Racines is a collaboration between two classic houses from France, led by vignerons Étienne de Montille and Brian Sieve of Burgundy and Rodolphe Péters of Champagne. The team came together to join their individual experiences in hand-crafting wines of purity and transparency to create a range of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the cool climate of the Sta. Rita Hills in California.
The project is the first venture for Étienne and Rodolphe beyond France and represents the coming together of all that is wonderful about Burgundy, Champagne and California.
These wines confirm something many have long suspected: that if you are looking to make terroir driven, elegant, balanced wines in the new world, then Sta. Rita Hills is the place.

Étienne de Montille joined Domaine de Montille in 1983, working alongside his father (the legendary Hubert de Montille) to build the Domaine and push the principles of terroir.
He was instrumental in the introduction of both organic farming, and latterly biodynamic methods and was at the heart of the expansion of the holdings to 30 hectares, including the iconic Chateau de Puligny-Montrachet.
Brian Sieve hails from Indianapolis, making him an extremely rare specimen: an American in one of France’s most esteemed wine jobs. As the Chef de Cave at Domaine de Montille since 2010, he has pursued minimal intervention to achieve maximum expression of the Domaine’s terroir.
Rodolphe represents the 6th generation of the Pierre Péters Champagne family, a venerable estate in the Southern Côte des Blancs.
The iconic family house has been producing Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs in Champagne since 1919.
Rodolphe’s wines are known for their sleek, racy qualities, combining acidity and minerality to create some of the most exciting Champagnes the world has ever seen.
